Conventional wisdom says Grenache ought not to be big - this wine is anything but conventional, and it is, you'll notice, very, very big. First whiff and you'll be blasted with a dark chocolate orange blossom sockeroo, so much so I find it hard to get my nose out of this glass! In your mouth, intensely fruity, fat, and round with an immensely pleasurable explosion of cinnamon, black pepper and licorice followed by a long, drawn out pinnacle of pure strawberry richness. • 170 cases made

2015 La Famiglia Cabernet Franc

2015 Cabernet Franc • Columbia Valley

A lovely expression of cool climate Cabernet Franc from our estate vineyard in the Chehalem Mountain AVA. This little beauty opens on the palate with a bright, spicy red plum, chili pepper surprise followed by a pleasantly intriguing toasted vanilla oak warmth. Give it a little bit of time, decanting or aeration, and she will soften to a rich dark subtly nuanced savoriness. This wine pairs well with tomato-based dishes but I’m betting it will really impress paired with a smoky BBQ cookout.
